Richard Sajiun NewYork: Leading With Passion and Purpose
My name is Richard Sajiun, and I am proud to call New York my home.
For many years, I have had the privilege of serving as the CEO of Sajiun Electric Inc., a company that provides specialized electrical services to public institutions.
From power distribution to telecommunications, surveillance systems to fire safety — our work touches many parts of New York’s infrastructure. But my role is not just about managing projects. It’s about leading with passion, having a clear purpose, and making sure that every decision we take serves the people and communities around us.
In this blog, I want to share my journey, my values, and why passion and purpose matter so much in leadership — especially in a city as vibrant and challenging as New York.
My Early Journey
I did not start my career sitting behind a desk. My journey began with hands-on training, working on real projects, learning the nuts and bolts (sometimes quite literally) of the electrical field.
I believe that to lead a team well, you have to understand their work from the inside. I have been on job sites in the middle of winter, standing in the rain while fixing a power line. I’ve worked late nights to make sure a public building’s fire safety system was ready before opening day.
Those early experiences shaped me. They taught me the value of teamwork, attention to detail, and patience. They also showed me that every wire we connect, every system we install, plays a role in keeping communities safe and connected.
Building Sajiun Electric Inc.
When I became the CEO of Sajiun Electric, my goal was clear: build a company that people could trust. In New York, public institutions depend on reliable service. They cannot afford mistakes or delays. Whether it’s a school’s communication system, a hospital’s power supply, or a city office’s security network — everything must work perfectly.
Under my leadership, we’ve expanded our focus to include:
Telecommunications – Making sure communication systems are strong, fast, and reliable.
Power Distribution – Delivering electricity safely and efficiently to critical facilities.
Surveillance Systems – Helping protect public spaces with modern technology.
Fire Safety – Ensuring that buildings meet safety codes and that systems work when needed most.
Each of these areas requires skill, precision, and commitment. But more than that, it requires trust between us and our clients. That’s why we don’t just offer a service — we offer peace of mind.
Why Passion Matters in Leadership
People sometimes ask me, “Richard, how do you keep your energy and focus after so many years?” The answer is simple: passion.
Passion is the fuel that drives me. I care deeply about the work we do because I know it impacts real lives. If a school’s power fails, students’ learning is disrupted. If a hospital’s system goes down, it could affect patient care. Knowing the stakes keeps me committed.
Passion also inspires my team. When they see that I am fully engaged, it motivates them to bring their best. A leader’s energy is contagious. If you lead with excitement and purpose, your team will feel it.
Purpose Gives Direction
Passion is powerful, but without purpose, it can lose focus. My purpose as a leader is to make a positive difference in New York’s public infrastructure.
That purpose guides every decision I make:
Which projects we take on
How we allocate resources
How we train our staff
How we invest in new technology
I ask myself: “Does this choice help our clients? Does it make our city safer, stronger, or better connected?” If the answer is no, we rethink our approach.
Purpose keeps us aligned. It ensures that we are not just chasing profits but creating long-term value.
The Role of Risk Management
One of the most important parts of my job is managing risk. In electrical work, there are safety risks, technical risks, and operational risks. Ignoring them can lead to serious problems.
At Sajiun Electric, we approach risk management with the same care as we approach our installations. We plan carefully, follow strict safety guidelines, and double-check every detail.
This focus on risk management not only protects our clients — it protects our team. Safety is not optional; it is the foundation of trust in our industry.
Leading With Integrity
Integrity is the backbone of leadership. Without it, passion and purpose mean little. I have always believed in being honest and transparent, whether I’m speaking with a client, a supplier, or a member of my team.
In business, challenges are inevitable. Sometimes a project takes longer than expected. Sometimes unexpected issues arise. When that happens, we face it head-on and communicate openly.
Integrity builds trust, and trust builds lasting relationships. Many of our clients have been with us for years because they know we will deliver on our promises.
The Human Side of Leadership
Leadership is not just about strategies and schedules — it’s about people. I make it a point to know my team, to understand their strengths, and to support their growth.
I believe in creating an environment where people feel respected and valued. When you care about your team, they care about the work.
Outside of work, I take time to recharge through fitness and music. Staying active keeps my mind sharp, and music reminds me to slow down and appreciate life. This balance helps me lead with clarity and patience.
Facing Challenges in New York
New York is a city of opportunity, but it’s also a city of challenges. Tight deadlines, complex regulations, and unexpected weather can all impact projects.
But I see challenges as opportunities to prove our resilience. At Sajiun Electric, we’ve learned to adapt quickly, find creative solutions, and keep moving forward no matter what obstacles come our way.
This mindset has helped us grow, even in difficult times. It has also earned us the respect of our partners and clients.
Looking Ahead
The future of electrical services is exciting. Technology is advancing fast — from smart grids to energy-efficient systems. I see great opportunities for Sajiun Electric to continue leading in innovation while staying true to our purpose.
We plan to invest more in:
Renewable energy solutions
Advanced monitoring systems
Training programs for the next generation of electricians
My dream is to see New York’s public infrastructure not only meet today’s needs but also be ready for tomorrow’s challenges.
Final Thoughts
Leading with passion and purpose is not a one-time decision — it’s a daily choice. Every morning, I remind myself why I do what I do. I think about the communities we serve, the people who rely on us, and the team that makes it all possible.
As Richard Sajiun from New York, I am grateful for the chance to make a difference. My journey has been shaped by hard work, continuous learning, and a deep belief in the power of integrity.
If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s this: when you lead with passion and purpose, you don’t just build a business — you build trust, relationships, and a legacy.
